'Six tracks of music from The Danse Society - Music for the Masses' it proclaims on the inner sleeve. Our first album (mini album really) recorded under the arches in London at Alaska Studios - not the big studio glamour, especially after sleeping on our managers office floor for 5 nights while we were recording. Never-the-less in mid 1982 it did seem like we were finally getting somewhere. An album! Exciting for 5 lads from t'arn, recording an album in t'smoke! Released in September 82, the thrill was palpable and we were all pleased with the end result, 6 tracks that showed off the bands evolution and musical diversity. Not only that but it managed No2 in the Independent charts once Somewhere/HIde (our next single) had been released. Looking/listening back now you can still hear the verve, the ideas, the atmosphere of excitement and enthusiasm, the spark, the magic that's made when energys come together. Enjoy, play loud and danse around the room...like when it was made!
